Scarce in original dust jacket with the price of $3.50. Bound in navy blue cloth with atom design on the front boards in orange and gold lettering. Bright orange and gold on the spine as well. Very clean and tight throughout. Virtually unread. In a good only dust jacket with a large piece missing at the bottom of the left-hand corner of the front panel; and a 3" shallow piece missing at the top of the front panel. A similar shallow section at the top of the rear panel is also missing. Light damp staining too the bottom of the rear panel. Chipping to the top and bottom of the spine ends as well. Despite the condition, the dust jacket is scarce for this Sendak title which is his first appearance in a book. Sendak's first illustrated work, done when he was 18 years old. McGraw-Hill, 1947 first American edition first printing.
