The work was first published, in America, in 1921. This copy is signed by the author Davis Grubb on. The front blank. The jacket (flaps without price as issued) is also present and complete with a small closed tear and lightly sunned spine, but still nice and also near fine. It s also signed by Davis Grubb and dated 1954 on the upper cover. A pleasing copy with a nice provenance. Davis Grubb (1919-1980) is the author of the bestselling novel in Night of the Hunter (1953) which was adapted into a film by Charles Laughton in 1955 and starred Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters and Lillian Gish. Night of the Hunter is now considered one of the greatest films ever made by cinema historians.
