In fair condition, with losses along edges and corners of boards and spine. Cracking to front hinge. Text block remains bound well. Light markings. Nicely illustrated throughout with black-and-white plates, along with a small assortment of hand-colored fashion plates. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. A scarce edition, with this volume containing The Imp of the Perverse, The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether, Marginalia, and The Philosophy of Composition by Edgar Allan Poe. Also includes content from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Bayard Taylor, and many more. Graham s Magazine was published by George Rex Graham from 1840 to 1858. A merger of Burton s Magazine and Atkinson s Casket, it published short stories and content on poetry, critical reviews, music, and fashion. Known for its illustrations and wides array of popular contributions, it was among the first magazines to copyright each issue.
