First edition first printings of each of the eleven volumes. Not ex-libris. An important and unique full set in excellent condition. Note, Cheshire in the 20th Century was published as Volume 12, despite there being no Volume 11. It was assumed that there would be a final "wrap-up" volume, with Cheshire in the 20th Century being published as Volume 11. However, the wrap-up was never produced, resulting in the unusually numbered set. Volume 1: Cheshire Before the Romans by W. J. Varley (1964) Volume 2: Roman Cheshire by F. H. Thompson (1965) Volume 3: Pre-Conquest Cheshire 383-1066 by J. D. Bu'Lock (1972) Volume 4: Cheshire Under the Norman Earls 1066-1237 by B. M. C. Husain (1973) Volume 5: Cheshire Under the Three Edwards by H. J. Hewitt (1967) Volume 6: Cheshire in the Later Middle Ages 1399-1540 by J. T. Driver (1971) Volume 7: Tudor Cheshire by Joan Beck (1969) Volume 8: The Civil Wars in Cheshire by R. N. Dore (1966) Volume 9: Cheshire, 1660-1780: Restoration to Industrial Revolution by J. H. Hodson (1978) Volume 10: Squire and Tenant: Rural Life in Cheshire 1760-1900 by G. Scard (1981) Volume 12: Cheshire in the Twentieth Century by Rosalind E. Tigwell (1985) Volumes 2 and 6 of the set have been signed by their Authors. There are no other names, inscriptions or pen-marks to these or to any of the cloth-bound books, which are all in excellent condition throughout. Each volume has its original dustjacket. Only one of these has been price-clipped (Cheshire Before the Romans). All dustjackets are in very good condition and each is protected in a removable plastic sleeve.
