DESCRIPTION: Limited edition, Number 911 out of 1000 copies. Large quarto (8 7/8 x 11 1/8 inches, 225 x 282 mm). Quarter vellum over blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt top edge gilt, front edge uncut. Authors include: Charles Perrault, Mme. d'Aulnoy and Anthony Hamilton. With twelve color plates by Edmund Dulac, all with bound-in protective rice paper - all present and intact. Signed by the artist. Book protected with an archival, clear Grafix Dura Lar dust wrapper. CONDITION: Near fine. No names or inscriptions in ink, no ex-libris. Text block firm and square, external and internal hinges intact. Vellum spine exceptionally clean with only trivial faint marks to vellum spine. Light foxing to front edge of text block. Few spots of foxing to front and rear pastedowns. 1-3 spots to a handful of text pages, all illustration plates unaffected. DISCUSSION: A wonderful collection of French fairy tales and fables with sympathetic color illustrations by Edmund Dulac, which capture the French flavor of the stories.
