Ten volumes. London: Printed for J. Johnson; J. Nichols and son; [et al.], 1806. §Cross, III, pp.330-331, noting "This is Murphy's edition revised by Alexander Chalmers. Vol. X includes: An Essay on Nothing, pp.135-149, which had been reprinted from the Miscellanies, 1743, by Isaac Reed in The Repository, 1783. . .". §Each volume with the attractive bookplate of the novelist Rhoda Broughton (1840-1920) to front pastedown (slightly offset to front free endpapers). Occasional minor browning. Volume I with early inked letters 'A.T.' to inner margin of R6, and with hole to S4 affecting a few letters. Closed tear to Q4, volume III. Three leaves with small paper loss to lower outer corner; a few leaves misnumbered. Small paper rectangle clipped from edge of title-page of each volume & replaced with matching slip of paper discreetly pasted on verso (not recent & carried out at the time of rebacking or earlier), seemingly to remove previous ownership name. A very good set in contemporary calf, some corners soft, very neatly professionally rebacked apparently in the lifetime of Rhoda Broughton, gilt lettering, blind decoration, discreet replacement endpapers. A very good set. (**PLEASE READ CAREFULLY** - Heavy/overweight item weighing 7.3 kg packed, therefore additional postage will be required for overseas orders.
