Deluxe edition, number 111 of 250 copies signed and numbered by the artist. Harry Clarke (1889-1931) was a key figure in the Irish arts and crafts movement, hailed by W. B. Yeats as Ireland's greatest stained-glass artist, and praised by George Russell ("AE") as "one of the strangest geniuses of his time". This volume collects poetry on the theme of Spring, by authors including John Masefield, Robert Graves, and G. K. Chesterton. Quarto. Colour frontispiece and 23 plates, 11 in colour, black and white illustrations in the text by Harry Clarke. Original vellum, spine and front cover lettered and decorated in gilt, front cover design heightened with yellow and purple, top edge gilt, others uncut, silk bookmarker laid in. Early gift label to front pastedown, 1959 gift inscription to front free endpaper. Light rubbing to vellum, small bump to one corner, boards slightly bowed, faint foxing to plates. A very good copy.
