Jacket Condition: Near Fine. A first edition 1962 set comprising: The Fellowship of the Ring, 1961 (13th impression); The Two Towers, 1962 (10th impression); The Return of the King, 1961 (9th impression). Each with folding map at the back. The books are in fine condition with with no marks to the cloth and bright gilt titles, noting a small splash mark to the red wash of the top edge of Vol.1. All fore edge corners are firm, sharp and square and there is virtually no sign of shelf-wear. The dust jackets are outstanding, noting some tiny impression marks on the front panel of The Two Towers - they have no loss, no tears, and no rubbing, noting light creases to the spine head tips and. To be hyper-critical, there is the lightest of spine toning to the first two volumes upon very studied close inspection but the titles are crisp, bright and fresh. Internally, there is no name, inscription or book plate and the pages are clean. The splendid condition of this is due, in large part, to having had protective covers from purchase - the one blot on this set is that there is a little tape marking from these original covers on to the front and rear free endpapers.
