Very rare work on the history of the Dutch Wadden Islands of Texel. In 1835, the marshes between Eierland and Texel, two separate islands at the time, were drained and poldered by Nicolas Joseph de Cock, to use the land for agricultural purposes. This unified the two islands as one, and made it possible to allot. The present work gives the proces, costs, and ownerhips of the lots, and shows the division of the land on a large folding map (84 x 75) bound at the end, titled Kaart van Eijerland 1839. Bedijkt in 1835.With a small worm hole in the front hinge of the binding, the map is very slightly foxed, some folds are slightly split. Otherwise in good condition.Very rare work on the history of Texel.l WorldCat 1257993064 (1 copy). Half beige leather, marbled paper sides. With the large folding map (87 x 74.5 cm) of Eijerland with hand-coloured in outline. Pages: [1], [1 blank],128 pp.
