Although it is more than a hundred years since pioneers like Fredrick Taylor, Gilbreth and Gantt laid down the principles of Scientific Management, these principles and techniques have still not penetrated Government offices in India appreciably. One reason for this is probably the lack of good books on Management in Government which is run on somewhat different principles and objectives. Books on Private Sector Office Management are not entirely suitable for Government offices. The present book is probably the first of its kind which combines traditional Government principles and methods of Office Management with modern management techniques and can be very useful not only for Government offices but also semi-government offices like municipalities, zilla parishads, universities and even many public sector corporations.
