Product Description

The Adventures of Left-Hand Island is about a group of 5 year old children who are on a mysterious island shaped like a left hand. They are culturally diverse yet are bonded in friendship - you might say: They had NO one at all, but they all had each other. And they got along well, like jam and peanut butter. In every book the children explore different parts of the island, which represent different parts of the world with its unique wildlife and landscape. Once the series is complete, the reader will have experienced three hundred different animals specific to their region in the world. This adventure fantasy has an educational element that is propelled along with songs, comedy, suspense and mythical creatures. Every book is sure to inspire and captivate the imagination of little ones. Book 1 Extended is the untold backstory to the original Book 1. As you may recall, the children ran into a big problem early on. But the calamity ends up being the springboard to new and fun adventures. As the children travel to Thumb Peninsula, Book 1 Extended tells of the many animals native to Canada not told in the original Book 1. But be warned: the terrible monster sequence is also extended. Remember, when reading to a child: Please respond to any questions, so the story comes alive. And read the book with wonder, just like you were only five.Cautionary note: This series was originally intended to be read to a non reading audience of four and five year olds. But the books slowly and gradually become more elaborate, using harder words. This encourages a better bonding experience, as you the reader get to explain certain words or phrases to encourage learning. As the series progresses, the books become funnier, but also more scarier. At many school readings, the children always seem to want me to read the scarier books. Although the monsters and pictures become more scary, they are no more scary than Disney. So before you read to a young one, please flip to the end, to see if the scary monsters are too harsh for more sensitive viewers. Thank you.
