~ Hello & welcome to The Textile Trunk! ~ Please come join us on : ~ I adore this dress ~ A wonderful find! I believe this textile is a Regency? dress ~ early to mid 1800's ~ I can't be 100% sure but it's wonderful & early! The style is magical ! The body is a silk taffeta in burnt sienna brown & the velvet is black. The silk taffeta ruffle around the bottom is SO wonderful, all hand worked! ~ whatever the period, it's a fabulous textile ~ The back snaps, which could be a later addition ? Because of the wear at the bottom of the ruffle, I believe this was a child's dress ~ I adore every single thing about this textile MEASUREMENTS: 33 inches from top of bodice to hem 8 inch straps ( so 16 inches total) 21 inch waist 30 inch chest CONDITION : This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. LOVELY condition When held to the light, I can see many small holes in the sienna body. Most are not visible unless held to light.
